You might naturally associate martial arts with hollywood stunts and kicks and punches, but the self-defense aspect of martial arts is just part of it. Children that learn martial arts develop the confidence to know that if they are ever bullied, they have the skills they need to defend themselves. However, the real skill we teach is diffusing situations with words before they ever escalate to a physical level.


Adults all train together like a team. The more experienced members spar and help the newest members. Although we take our training seriously, we make sure that you have a ton of fun while you get in the best shape of your life.

We teach children to focus. In this age of distractions and sensory overload, this is a skill that will provide immediate results in their academic work. 

With the event of mixed martial arts (MMA) becoming mainstream in the media, more and more people are looking to martial arts and self-defense classes as an alternative to the usual gym and fitness routine. At Karate America DeForest, we have been training in and teaching martial arts long before the media hype. We proudly bring forth this tradition to new generations of martial artists by offering a variety of classes to our students.

Martial arts help teach self-discipline and socialization skills. In fact, many parents whose children have attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) report great success with these programs because self-control and concentration are commonly underdeveloped skills in ADHD kids.

It can mean getting better grades in school, knowing how to use anti-bullying programs to prevent violence amongst peers, or simply the appreciation that comes from learning and mastering a difficult skill through practice.

Perhaps most importantly, students learn that physical activity is a healthy way to have fun. With health problems such as diabetes and obesity affecting more and more young people, parents should take steps to help their children avoid these issues. Children's martial arts gives kids a fun way to exercise, learn essential life lessons and develop a sense of self-reliance.

Our KinderKickers program has been specially designed for children ages 3 to 5.


Students will learn self-discipline in a fun, structured program that helps build self-control, balance, fitness and flexibility. They'll improve their focus, listening skills, self-esteem, gross motor skills, and more.


We recognize that 3 to 5 year olds have very different developmental needs than their older counterparts. This program bridges that developmental gap and prepares students for the next level of their training.

We have found the martial arts to be a great activity that’s fun and beneficial for all ages. As life gets busier every day, our family classes help to keep families together and connected. This program provides the same benefits of our kids, teen and adult programs but allows you the opportunity to take class with your child (children). Spend some quality time together while enjoying the benefits of setting goals together, getting fit together and learning to defend yourself!

Black Belt Team

At some point in a student's training they may decide to make a commitment to reach the next level through our Black Belt Team (BBT). This program focuses on building upon skills introduced in the Junior Basic or Teen/Adult programs. Black Belt Team includes longer class time, working with weapons (chucks, escrima, kama, bo-staff), seminar opportunities and membership discounts. Black Belt Team is for students whose goal is the coveted rank of Black Belt.

Masters Team

This program is specifically designed to challenge and elevate the skill levels of the Black Belt student. Curriculum is created to enhance and maximize the technique, power and speed of a martial artist. Black Belt curriculum consists of 6 months of intense work (blocks) on 6 different modules.

  • First degree blocks: Double chucks, kamas, Black Belt forms, advanced self defense, bo-staff and escrima.
  • Second degree blocks: Small circle self defense (JuJitsu), bokken, broadsword, teaching, sai and tonfa.
  • Third degree curriculum: Third degrees choose a martial art focus and receive advanced training in that area. The Third Degree also is required to volunteer or participate in events in their community.

Hyper Pro classes consist of a high performance martial arts curriculum that helps create martial arts athletes with modern drills, kicks, acrobatics, extreme forms and pro athlete mindset. Basically it is an incredible program that creates the best martial arts athletes with style.


Hyper Fight classes mix a fusion of martial arts sparring combinations, self defense techniques and drills, plyometrics, combat sprints, sparring games and music to inspire martial arts athletes. Sessions are a progressive sparring and self defense curriculum.
